Lighting Artist


Studio Profile:

Established in 2006, Ubisoft Sofia has quickly become one of the group’s most versatile studios. In its first 6 years, the studio has already developed a rich portfolio, ranging from casual games to flight simulations, and covering a wide range of platforms and technologies: Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars 3DS, Prince of Persia Trilogy HD PS3, Imagine: Fashion Designer 3DS, Prince of Persia Classics PSN, Chessmaster: The Art of Learning DS & PSP, and many more. The studio is currently finishing development on Assassin’s Creed III Liberation for the PlayStation VITA.

ROLE: The Lighting Artist is responsible for the creation of the lighting design for a given project.

The position is open for the development of an AAA Home Console title.

Job Responsibilities:

• Delivers work in a single iteration, in accordance with the project's artistic direction
• Efficiently applies graphic principles in his work
• Applies the project engine's lighting and shadowing systems principles.
• Applies optimization to his work
• Suggests images in line with the project's artictic direction
• Uses and looks for artistic references - in video games or in other artistic domains - in order to improve the visual aspect of the game
• Is comfortable with the platform and engine constraints
• Efficiently uses the archive tools
• Respects real time constraints specific to engine and platform

Job Requirements:

• Excellent knowledge of lighting and atmospheric effects
• Good knowledge of at least one 3D software
• Good knowledge of modeling techniques
• Is able to find solutions to lighting problems at a more complex level
• Ability to understand technical constraints and to integrate them in their work
• Good knowledge of real-time SFX shaders will be considered a plus
• Experience with game engines will be considered a plus
• Enthusiasm and desire to work in the game development industry
• Ability and desire to work in creative and collaborative teams
• Good communication skills
• Interest in computer and video games
• Ability to manage their own time and work within deadlines
• Good English skills
• Minimum 3 years of related work experience (experience in games development will be considered a plus)
